If you only used one effect I'd recommend a nice full chorus. Something like the Boss CE-1. After that I'd go with a Tubescreamer for some sort of light overdrive and add some delay and compression. Then maybe an equalization pedal to tweak the tone.

Just make sure that the effects tone fits in well with the mix of music that you're playing. I mean, for worship music you really don't want something that's overdone but something that's nice and even. So don't be afraid to cut back on the effects that you are using. Use you equalizer to make sure that the vocals stand out when you are accompanying. Clarity and feel in the music mix are much more important than just sounding cool.

I also love the phaser sound, but this is not that common for acoustic guitars playing. I also like a wah pedal for soloing but this is also more geared toward electric guitars. In any case, no matter what effects you use with your acoustic guitar, think about using them sparcely to add a little flavor to your music and not to overwhelm it.

An acoustic guitar not does need any effects and although I've used some of the ones mentioned, I've decided that effects used with acoustic guitars take away its soul.

If your amp or has reverb than that effect is a good one to use. Chorus pedals are popular if you play solos or need to add some depth to your tone. However, with an acoustic guitar I see that too many people overdo these effects and mush up their sound. A good acoustic guitar has such a nice bright tone to begin with that you should err on the side of less when using these effects. Try to vary the amount of reverb and chorus if you decide to use them and find the sound that fits the song.

The effects that I usually use with my acoustic guitar are chorus, flanger and wah-wah.

I play the same types of music and I usually use the chorus and digital delay for effects.
