Don't get me wrong, I think that Alvarez makes a nice acoustic guitar in your price range if you want a new guitar, but a used Taylor for the money you have will get you the most guitar for what you want to spend. I'm a Taylor guitar girl all the way, because I just love the sound and the quality of their guitars. But when I got mine, I bought a new Taylor 114e and pretty much depleted my savings acount. Try checking eBay for some used ones and you might be surprised with what you can find. They are especially suited for 12 gauge strings and they have great pickups in their acoustic electric line. I like the Alvarez guitars a lot better than Ovations.
