Dean Guitars opened its' doors in 1976 when it was founded by Dean Zelinsky. They manufacturer electric guitars, bass guitars, acoustic guitars and other stringed instruments used in bluegrass. Zelinsky sold the company in 1986 to Elliott Robinson. With improved marketing and branding, Dean has seen continued growth. Many of the Dean acoustic electric guitars rival the other brands in terms of construction and quality at the lower end of the pricing scale. However, some of their models in the four-five hundred dollar price range are reviewed favorably against the high end manufacturers of acoustic electric guitars.
